University students often feel overwhelmed trying to balance their studies and college life. Mindfulness techniques have been proven in numerous scientific studies to reduce stress and enhance focus and well-being. Why not take this free, six-week course to learn some practical ways to feel more in control of your busy life?
According to Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, internationally known for his work as a scientist, writer and meditation teacher engaged in bringing mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society, “mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally. It is about knowing what is on your mind.” Mindfulness, however, is much more than a philosophical concept - it is a skill that you integrate into your daily life. Like any new skill, it is obtained by doing and by practicing and for this reason the course spans seven weeks.
These workshops are only one way through which the UCR study skills center seeks to help UCR students. If you can't make it to any of the workshops you can also make a personal appointment with us.
